One of the most common questions we get asked about at Identify is how much should you be spending on marketing. New Zealand businesses frequently spend far less than they should. (yeah, I know as a marketer I’m going to say that!) However, that’s partly because some of their marketing activity is not classified as marketing (like networking groups for example) or because the business owner is not factoring in their time on marketing related tasks.
No matter the size of your business, spending time or money on marketing is important to grow your business. Working out how much to spend is fairly simple – there is a formula for it!
The key thing with this formula is that you should be spending your marketing budget on the right types of things. This is, of course, the next part of the equation.
